We hold a monthly auction from our premises in Brading, but outdoor auctions and other estate sales are commonly held off-site. In recent years we have held auctions at Arreton Barns and Calbourne Mill, as well as various shops, storage units and halls across the Isle of Wight. View our auction calendar to confirm the auction date, time and location, or look to our homepage or social media platforms for regular updates.

Sign up to our mailing list and receive our auction catalogues as they are published. Alternatively, refer to the link on our homepage before each auction. Printed copies are also available from the auction house.

We hold multiple viewing days for every auction. For our monthly Antique & Modern auctions, these are always the two working days before the auction takes place. In addition, lots can be viewed online, via our bidding platform partner, the-saleroom.com, up to a week in advance. Bidders are welcome to request additional photos or request a condition report via the-saleroom.com, up to 5pm the day before the auction.

Bid in Person

There’s nothing that can quite replicate the exciting experience of attending an auction in person. Please take the time to register with us before the auction and we’ll be happy to provide you with a personal bidding number, which can be used at all future auctions too.

Bid Online

Live stream our auctions and bid in real-time from anywhere in the world, via our online bidding partner, the-saleroom.com. Simply set up an account before an auction begins following our easy how-to-guide: How to register to bid live via the-saleroom.com

Bid in Advance

If you’re unable to bid live and prefer not to bid online, we welcome absentee bids (also known as commission bids) up to 5pm the day before the auction. Register your maximum bid for any number of lots here. On the day, a member of our team will bid on your behalf, endeavouring to obtain the items for the best possible price.

Bid by Telephone

To reserve a phone line, get in touch up to 2pm the day before the auction. On the day, a member of our team will call you from the auction floor and bid on your instruction. Please note, this service is available only on lots where you, the bidder, are prepared to bid a minimum of £100.

Receiving your invoice

If you bid and buy via our online bidding platform partner, the-saleroom.com, you will receive an invoice via email the day after the auction, usually by 12pm. Local bidders need not wait for their invoice and can settle their account from 9am the day after the auction. Please note, accounts cannot be settled on the day of the auction itself, unless by prior arrangement and in strictly special circumstances.

Paying for your purchases

The total amount payable for each purchase equals the hammer price (the auction sale price) together with a buyer's premium of 20%, inclusive of VAT. Online bids made via our online bidding platform partner, the-saleroom.com, incur an additional premium, levied directly by the saleroom.com, which, as of October 2025, stands at 5.94%.

We accept bank transfer, cash, debit cards and most major credit cards, though GOLD, SILVER, JEWELLERY and VEHICLES, along with other high value items, can only be paid by bank transfer or cash (up to lawful limits). We reserve the right to extend this stipulation to any invoice of any buyer unknown to us or for any other reason.

Collection

Following an auction, we are open for collections 9am-4pm, with all lots to be removed from the auction room by 4pm on the second working day. As most of our monthly actions take place on a Tuesday, this means by 4pm on Thursday.

IOW delivery

We are pleased to work with local transport company, Hobson’s Choice, to offer delivery anywhere on the Isle of Wight on the Thursday following an auction. Customers are kindly asked to contact our office the morning after the auction, no later than 2pm, to request use of this service. Prices start from £30.

Postal services

Further afield, we use our in-house packing team in conjunction with our preferred couriers, Royal Mail and Parcelforce, to offer UK Mainland delivery on many of the lots we auction. Our quotes start from £15 +VAT via Royal Mail Special Delivery and £25 +VAT via Parcelforce.

We are happy to provide an estimate for UK Mainland delivery before an auction, but the exact quote can only be determined afterwards. We calculate and add a delivery charge to the invoices of all UK Mainland addresses, where lots can be posted by us. Upon receipt of your invoice, please call our office to remove this service if you prefer to make alternative arrangements. If no delivery charge has been added to your invoice, we are unable to post your item or items.

Please note, we will always advocate a more bespoke service for items of a delicate nature, such as ceramics and glassware, or where the size of the item requires it, and would be happy to connect you with a reliable independent courier who can assist in transportation in these instances. If in doubt regarding the feasibility of delivery of any given lot, please pose the question to us prior to bidding.
